A Rural Health worker referred a young family to us for help paying travel expenses. Their baby was born with a rare heart condition (having surgery at only days old) and required regular follow up at the nearest children’s hospital to their home (Salt Lake City). Having missed significant time from work since the baby’s birth, the family was struggling financially. We were able to connect the family with Ronald McDonald House for lodging and provided them with gas cards to help defray the cost of transportation.
