Working parents came to us asking for help paying travel expenses. Their baby has “failed to thrive” despite measures recommended by local pediatrician and gastroenterological specialists. The child’s medical team has advised out-of-state specialist consultation to ascertain diagnosis and redirect treatment options. We referred the family to Ronald McDonald House for lodging and our Board approved gas/rental car expense (as the family vehicle was needed for work and transportation for the other children in the household while the other parent traveled for medical care).
