Working parents reached out for help with out-of-area travel expenses. After months of doctors searching for a diagnosis for this young child’s symptoms, a brain tumor was eventually diagnosed. Due to the specialized nature of the diagnosis, only some treatment could be obtained locally; more specialized treatment would need to be conducted in Oakland. Our Board encouraged the family to reach out to Ronald McDonald House for lodging in Oakland and we offered to defray some of their travel costs with gas cards.
