In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic (a respiratory illness), the parents of young child with upper respiratory tract infection and underlying asthma rushed their child to hospital. His condition was related to the URI (not COVID-19); he was treated and ultimately discharged. Although both parents worked, because they could not afford the expensive monthly cost of medical insurance, they worked with Access to Healthcare to help cover emergent medical care. Currently out of work due to the pandemic, Mom and Dad needed help paying the negotiated fees for the child’s hospitalization. Our Board readily approved their request.
